History of the Soviet Nuclear Weapons and Infrastructure (manuscript)
The objective of the project is to prepare a manuscript on the history of Soviet nuclear weapons and infrastructure.
The manuscript will summarize the results of the half-century effort devoted to the creation of nuclear weapons and
peaceful applications of atomic energy. The manuscript is consistent with the policy of Russia's Minatom aimed at
publicizing accomplishments of the country's atomic science and industry.
The manuscript consists of the following sections:
- Milestones of the Soviet Atomic Industry Development;
- Chapter 1. The First Atomic Bomb. Role of Intelligence. The Early Stage of the Nuclear Infrastructure Formation;
- Chapter 2. Development of the Early Nuclear and Thermonuclear Devices;
- Chapter 3. Development of the Soviet Nuclear Weapons Program;
- Chapter 4. Development of the Soviet Nuclear Infrastructure;
- Chapter 5. The Soviet Program of Peaceful Nuclear Explosions;
- Chapter 6. Nuclear Tests and Basic Research;
- Chapter 7. Seismic Tests, 1974 Threshold Test Ban Treaty and 1996 Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty;
- Chapter 8. Atomic Energy in the Soviet Union and Russia;
- Chapter 9. Problems and prospects of Russia' atomic industry.
