Review of Conversion Capabilities and Experience of RFNC-VNIIEF
RFNC-VNIIEF is actively exploring new conversion areas. It commercializes
projects in the interests of civilian industries to support their economic
and financial sustainability.
The objective of the project is to research the following problems:
- General approaches to conversion arrangement at RFNC-VNIIEF;
- Experimental facilities of RFNC-VNIIEF for scientific conversion projects;
- Development of peaceful explosive technologies at RFNC-VNIIEF;
- Nuclear explosive technologies as applied to global environmental problems;
- NPP safety enhancement and peaceful applications of atomic energy;
- Conversion projects of RFNC-VNIIEF in the area of enhanced nuclear materials control, accounting and protection;
- Control of excess weapon-grade fissile materials;
- Conversion production technologies;
- Prospects of the RFNC-VNIEF conversion development;
- Processes and prospects of conversion in the ZATOs of Minatom;
- Scientific conversion activities of RFNC-VNIIEF under ISTC projects;
- Research and conversion at VNIIEF;
- Scientific Conversion Experience (e.g. Software Technology Laboratory VNIIEF-STL).
This project was supported financially by the US Department
of Energy within the framework of the Nuclear Cities Initiative (NCI) under
the Russian-US intergovernmental agreement signed on September 22, 1998.
